Why are course evaluations important at the school?

Course evaluations are one factor in assessing the instructor's teaching effectiveness. Your constructive, confidential feedback allows the instructor to improve the course, as well as its delivery, from semester to semester.

Course Evaluation Survey questions are scored through a mean calculation on a scale of 1.00 to 5, with 5 being the highest. Participation in the course evaluation process by all students is critical. A higher response rate to the surveys provides a more diverse, complete assessment of the course and the instructor's teaching effectiveness. While each specific course varies, the school generally receives an overall semester response rate of between 60 and 65 percent.

If you have additional questions or feedback regarding the course evaluations system or process, we encourage you to submit feedback. Feedback will be reviewed by the office of the associate dean for academic affairs for further improvement of the system.
